Brian Espe is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate in Asheville, North Carolina. Brian’s therapeutic approach is rooted in developing strong relationships and seeks to incorporate movement and nature into his clinical interventions. Brian frequently employs therapeutic techniques such as motivational interviewing, cognitive behavior therapy, and mindfulness in his practice, and believes in the power of self-autonomy to resolve inner conflicts.
Brian has worked extensively with children and adults for the past seven years. He began this journey while employed as a wilderness therapy field instructor in western North Carolina, where he lead students on backpacking trips into the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Subsequently, Brian earned his Master of Social Work degree from Western Carolina University, and has continued to serve children and their families in a variety of settings including a residential treatment facility and as a school social worker for Buncombe County Schools. This later experience provided Brian with a comprehensive understanding of the social, emotional, and academic challenges students frequently experience, and how a positive connection to an unbiased adult can serve as an effective tool for positive change.
Brian loves spending time in the mountains, and is an avid rock climber and trail runner.
