Jake Orr is the newest addition to the Blue Ridge Treks community and we are so excited to be bringing him into our network and into the therapeutic journeys of those he’ll work to support!

Jake is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor based in Asheville, North Carolina. Jake employs a person-centered counseling approach with all of his clients, with a tailored blend of adventure and experiential counseling, as well as trauma-informed transpersonal psychotherapy. He is also highly trained in motivational interviewing and clinical assessment, as well as crisis management and mediation. Jake is a Veteran Flight Medic of the United States Air Force. He joined the military right out of high school and began training to render aid to wounded soldiers while in flight. He also attended survival school while serving, learning wilderness survival and evasion skills in combat environments. Upon leaving the military, Jake attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham for his Undergraduate Psychology degree. In this time, he worked as a clinical research coordinator, searching for treatments in disorders varying from schizophrenia to pediatric epilepsy. Jake also attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham for his Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, he graduated with his degree in the Spring of 2022.

When not helping clients, Jake can be found hanging out with his wife and friends either mountain biking, climbing, or camping. Jake holds an immense love and wonder for our Appalachian Mountains, and is passionate about sharing this amazing place with others.
