Jon Cox, Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Jon Cox is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who specializes in outpatient therapy for teenage clients as well as their families. Jon focuses on developing strong therapeutic relationships and assists clients through highlighting their inherent strengths and working collaboratively to navigate the challenges of beginning the journey towards independence and adulthood. Jon enjoys working with kids struggling with all types of issues including trauma, gender identity, anxiety, struggles with authority and adapting to change.
From 2016- 2017 Jon worked with Blue Ridge Treks as a therapist for a local therapeutic boarding school. Jon rejoined Blue Ridge Treks as an outpatient therapist in 2019 after some time working with kids in the juvenile court system, and has shifted into the role of an outpatient therapist. Jon currently sees clients in natural settings all over Buncombe County and enjoys engaging clients in activities outside of the traditional office environment. Jon has a bachelor’s degree in Wilderness Leadership and Experiential Education from Brevard College and completed his Masters Degree in Social Work at Western Carolina University. He has previously worked as a camp counselor, raft guide, kayaking instructor, experiential educator, and even spent several years as a touring musician in a reggae band! Currently Jon enjoys playing music locally, taking his raft out on whitewater rivers in the southeast and spending time with his wife and children.
